What do you do at Heart n Soul?
I'm the Event coodinator. I look after the volunteers and the people that work with Heart n Soul at our club nights and events. I hand out information, make sure everyone is in the right place and that all the guests are having a good time. I'm responsible for making sure that everything runs smoothly.
What's your favourite thing about
working at Heart n Soul?
The mix of people and the lively atmosphere that the club creates.
It's a really inclusive organisation and I find it really exciting.
Anything goes! Heart n Soul have really developed and helped to change things. The organisation keeps up with the times and really pushes boundaries.
How have you been getting ready for
December's Beautiful Octopus Club?
I've been busy working with the Heart n Soul team to find volunteers so we can create a warm welcome and make sure that everyone can find their way around. It's really important to get a good team together and to make sure that they know all about the event.
What are you most looking forward to
doing at The Beautiful Octopus Club?
I love the whole thing. I love all the acts and think Matt Fraser is hilarious. It's great to see people have an opportunity to do different things in the Art Zone or the Unique Boutique. I'm looking forward to meeting all the people that come to the club and seeing everyone getting involved.
What's your funniest memory from
working at Heart n Soul?
I was the Producion Co-odinator for the Positive Hearts tour. Pino Frumiento was singing and his trousers fell down onstage! I thought 'Oh no! He's in the middle of singing, he needs help!'. I had to run onstage while he was singing and help him pull his trousers back up in front of the whole audience!
How has Heart n Soul changed over the years?
It's changed a lot! The organisation has really moved along with society's changes and have started to focus on individual artists. I think it's great that people have a chance to perform and their talent is nurtured. It's a really fresh, unique organisation. It's come on in leaps and bounds.
What would you like to happen here in the next 25 years?
More of the same! It would be really exciting to see The Beautiful Octopus Club move more into the mainstream and to bring our artists to more and more people. It would be great to keep running and growing the young people's projects so that everyone can have a go and get involved. Onwards and upwards!
