Heart n Soul makes a huge difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities. Around 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability and they are one of the most excluded groups in our society.
Heart n Soul aims to raise £25,000 in our 25th year to continue to reach people
in need, touching and changing their lives. We can only do this with your help. So make a donation and give people an incredible gift.
At Heart n Soul we put learning disability culture at our heart and believe that everyone can do more. We support people to achieve more and take responsibility for their own lives:
We support people to become more independent through our pioneering training and employment opportunities. In the UK less than one in five people with learning disabilities have a paid job, but over two thirds want one.
We offer a range of taking part opportunities for people from 10-60 years old. We help them learn new creative skills and make new friends in a safe and welcoming atmosphere. In the UK almost a third of people with learning disabilities don't see friends and one in five don't see their family.
We help raise the profile of people with learning disabilities in society. Our artists are given professional development support, giving them a chance to be working artists breaking into the mainstream. In the UK 9 out of 10 people with learning disabilities get bullied.
Lizzie's story
Lizzie Emeh is one of Heart n Soul's key artists. She made history in 2009 as the first solo artist with a learning disability to release an album in the UK. She also won the Radar Arts Award in 2010 for her achievements:
"I knew I wanted to be a singer, but didn't think it was something I could do as a career. Heart n Soul changed all that. I've performed across Europe and to South Korea, I've met Nelson Mandela and I've made my first album, which is an incredible feeling. When I walk down the street now, I don't get any abuse, in fact people come up to me and say "well done Lizzie". I see music as a way to touch people and show others what learning disabled people can do."
Here's how you can make a difference:

- £100 –would pay for a production trainee to have one-to-one professional career coaching sessions, helping them put together a CV to apply for the job
- £1000 –would pay for thirty young people to perform dance and drama pieces on stage at The Squidz Club helping them to develop their performance skills boosting self worth and confidence
- £3,000 –would pay for one person to be trained in production services or media skills for one year, which will increase their independence and income
- £25,000 – would pay for one Beautiful Octopus Club, Heart n Soul’s groundbreaking club event for people with learning disabilities. It would mean up to 800 people could enjoy and take part in a high quality arts performance
