The Fish Police are a funk/punk trio from South London. They are made up of Matthew Howe, Dean Rodney and Charles Stuart.
They got to know each other when Charles trained Dean and Matthew as part of our old group, Heart n Soul Youth.
Big music fans, their key musical influences range from Kraftwerk and Daft Punk to Bob Marley and Will Smith. They mix this with their love of computer games, cartoons, fast food and Japanese culture to create sounds that set them apart on the UK urban music scene.
Heart n Soul is supporting them to write new songs and to create their original sound and performance style.
In September 2009 the group performed at the decibel Arts Showcase in Manchester celebrating the best new work by diverse artists. This was the start of a very busy time for the group. In 2010 they performed at the Paradise Gardens Festival, Liberty Festival and were the headline acts at The Beautiful Octopus Club at the Royal Festival Hall in October where they launched their first music EP, The Fish Police EP. They finished the year with performances at the Lincoln Center in New York City and the Dadafest International Festival at Tate Liverpool. In 2011 they completed their album and released their second music EP The Big Big World of Electronics.
2012 will be another busy year for the group as they work on the launch of their album. Dean and Charles are also involved in The Dean Rodney Singers, Heart n Soul’s international music and video project for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
